Her hands are capable of transforming simple solid-colored fabrics into beautiful decorated sheets. With community microcredit she has transformed this talent into a profitable job. Her dream? To be able to grow further, hand in hand with her community
Work
Mexico, a spring of hopes fulfilled
The “Refugio de la Esperanza”, in Mexico, is a special place. Here men – adults and young – are welcomed to escape the nightmare of addictions. Sharing, spirituality and work are the pillars of the project
Syria, “generating hope with concrete actions”
Domingos Dirceu Franco is a Brazilian economist and focolarino who has lived in Aleppo since 2019. We talked with him about the complicated situation that Syria is experiencing, a country where AMU is present with two programs: Seeds of Hope (emergency projects in the health field, education and professional training for women) and RestarT (income-generating activities), essential – according to Domingos – to “restore dignity to those who lost everything during the war”.
RestarT: the new projects in Aleppo (Syria)
The first 15 projects have been launched in the city of Aleppo. These include the sale of ground coffee, the opening of a minimarket and the production of detergents. Many difficulties have been faced and overcome with the support of the RestarT team.
A brighter future!
Economic reconstruction and community spirit reconstruction go hand in hand in AMU’s actions in Ecuador. And they are also linked to school education. As the story of Sandro and his little friend teaches us.
Burundi: Palm Oil and the Rebirth of Cyprien
What prompted Nsabimana Cyprien, in Burundi, to take up his palm oil business again after having his leg amputated? Community microcredit. This is the story of how he overcame many difficulties and was able to be reborn.
Syria, Bassam has returned to work for his seven children
The man, a resident of Homs, could no longer provide a decent life for his family. Supported by the RestarT program, he was able to restart his activity as an electrician and start working again. And his life changed.
A story from Mexico: “They are taking back their lives”
Lia Guillen, AMU coordinator of the Liberar-Sé Rifugio della Speranza project, was in Mexico to meet the protagonists of the difficult paths of integration after addictions.
Community and Work. Youssouf’s Inclusion and Friendship with Matteo
A workplace that becomes a community and that supports a young Senegalese in his path of social and work inclusion in Italy. From this community a strong friendship is born. The one that binds Youssouf and Matteo.
Burundi, a year of results with Nyunganira’s microcredit
Reactivating the trust of local communities, supporting their capacities, making them protagonists of their choices. These are the paths chosen by AMU to fight poverty in Burundi. The tool used is the formation of community savings and microcredit groups. Like the one in Nyunganira.
Kebba. First Poverty, Then Work. Now Inclusion
In the video below we tell you the stories of the kids followed by the project Fare Sistema Oltre l’Accoglienza, financed by Fondazione con il Sud. They are stories of those who, having started working, managed to leave poverty behind. With work came something else: inclusion.
Crisis in Syria: Poverty is defeated with work
Issam’s rebirth is through coffee. AMU supported him in starting his new business with microcredit provided by the RestarT program. It is one of the ways to fight poverty in a Syria in full crisis.
