Yazan is a third grade student living in Baniyas, Syria. His grades at school were not very good. He was also a lively and insecure child who was afraid to take part in class life, unable to integrate . Speaking and writing were very difficult for him.
The mother turned to the Piccoli Sogni educational center, one of the structures supported in Syria by Semi di Speranza . She had heard about it from some acquaintances and thought it could be the right place to find adequate support for her son.
When Yazan started attending the center, he was followed both educationally and behaviorally. He was placed in a class, which allowed him to learn to work together with his classmates. The teachers’ work proved to be valuable and effective; the child has become a student capable of participating in school life . An educator says: “Yazan has acquired a sense of responsibility and in class he has started to answer questions. It doesn’t matter if he did it correctly or not. The important thing is that he has integrated. He has also improved in his writing”.
From a lively, chaotic boy who paid little attention to the rules of the school community, Yazan has changed into a well-behaved child. His approach to school has been turned upside down and his words hit the heart: “I am happy because now in class I understand the lessons”.
