As well as strengthening local communities to support their development, there are now emergency interventions to enable them to survive the pandemic. In many situations we have to respond to the shortage of basic necessities, as in Ecuador, or by providing health care against Covid19 or medicines to continue treatment for cancer or other diseases, as in Syria. In other situations we are supporting workers and small businesses to survive and transform their own activities, where possible, e.g by accompanying Argentinean agricultural businesses to sell their products online.
Poverty is on the rise today and is likely to continue in the future because of the self-isolation required to fight Covid19. There is much to be done and everyone’s support will become even more important.
Thanks to your contributions and your choice of reciprocity, AMU will be able to stay close to the most vulnerable people and communities in this current time of crisis and accompany them on the road to recovery that we hope will begin soon.
