In Brazil, the celebration of the children’s festival of Quilombo Rio dos Macacos was a day of peace, spent coloring mandalas, painting faces, dancing capoeira, and eating together. A true celebration full of love, peace, respect, and solidarity. In the Santuário Nossa Senhora da Salette (Curitiba), every Sunday, during the children’s mass, the priest uses the Dice of Peace . In the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, in the city of Óbidos, there is a youth center called Living Peace : here Father Edson organized moments of celebration for children and young people, who during the Time Out (the minute of silence) prayed for peace for all the children of the world. Then they rolled our Dice of Peace. In Portugal, the students of the do Cerco school, located in the city of Porto, dedicated the moment of the Time Out praying for peace and committing themselves to living its values in daily life.
The students of IC Di Guardo Quasimodo ( Catania ) also drew, wrote messages and lived moments of prayer with Time Out, focusing on peace in the Holy Land and in all the places where wars still exist. Many initiatives also in Argentina. At the Centro Cultural de Merlo (School of San Matias ) an exhibition on education for peace was inaugurated, with a special installation. In the Fundador school (in Merlo, a city in the province of Buenos Aires), the children of the primary classes stopped for the Time Out minute of silence, praying for peace. The students of the Instituto Raíces y Alas de Merlo painted pieces of cloth with messages of peace, which were then used to form a new flag that symbolizes their efforts to build and spread peace.
Also in Argentina , the future young ambassadors of peace visited children and adolescents at the pediatric hospital of Vilela, in the city of Rosario. They distributed toys, drawings, mandalas, lollipops, and gave smiles. With them, a Spiderman with a big heart. From October 1 to 8, the International Summit Building Leaders for a Better World took place in Costa Rica , organized by TV Mundo Digital , a partner of Living Peace, with the presence of many countries from Latin America, Spain and Italy. They were very rich days, which created new synergies for the diffusion of a culture of peace. Finally, the new Scientific Commission of Living Peace International met again: a small international group made up of specialists in psychology, sociology, pedagogy and theology, to continue “building together a path where we can transform into science the rich life experience that our project of education for peace has made in these 11 years”.
Peace!
The Living Peace International network continues to work tirelessly for peace around the world, especially involving the youngest. From Italy to Brazil, from the Holy Land to Costa Rica, young and old throw the Dice of Peace and dedicate themselves to moments of prayer with Time Out.
