Lebanon, Christiane’s commitment to her people

The economic and financial crisis in Lebanon is causing more and more people to need support even to meet their basic needs.

Christiane is one of the many volunteers of the Emergency Lebanon intervention to support the most vulnerable families, carried out by Humanité Nouvelle, together with the AMU and the Apostolic Vicariate of Beirut. In her story we find the dignity of a people who are going through a very difficult period and who are not used to asking for or having to resort to the help of others to survive. Yet the conditions of the crisis increase day by day the number of people in need and who turn to the project. Christiane and the other volunteers are increasingly involved in collecting necessities and in the practical work for the preparation of food parcels for families. In a climate of reciprocity where those who are less in need (because some more and some less, everyone has difficulties) also take care of offering their support to others. Everyone is moved by the idea of supporting their brothers and sisters and fighting the injustices that deprive some even of essential goods. But the greatest wish for everyone, however, is that this project ends soon. It would mean that the worst is over in Lebanon and that people have been able to return to a dignified life, relying only on their own work and their own strength. [
