Tamam is 21 years old, she studies at university to become a teacher, and is followed by the medical center of Homs because she suffers from severe kidney failure that forces her to frequent dialysis sessions and a life of limitations.

Look to the future, follow your dreams, try to building a path for your work in Syria has become a difficult undertaking.
Tamam’s story is that of a young girl who, despite the difficulties, tries to move forward, is committed to her education and does not stop thinking about what she will do tomorrow. Today he lives with his parents, his father, who had to stop working as a farmer due to his age and physical difficulties, and his mother, a housewife. Their economic conditions are worsening as time goes by, also because the cost of dialysis twice a week and for the necessary care increases month by month.

“I’m tired of this situation, my difficulties are so many that I can’t even list them all. I’m looking for a kidney donor and I can’t find one. The most painful thing for me is that my illness prevents me from realizing my big dreams.
I spend most of my time at home, when I’m well I can study and take exams, but very often I’m very tired and debilitated.
I would like to take English and computer courses and pursue some hobbies, but my health does not allow me to. Even the trip to Homs for treatment or to do some activity is very tiring, I have to leave very early by public transport and come back late”.

In these years the medical center in Homs has been fundamental in accompanying Tamam:

“It has helped me stay strong until now. Since I met the operators of this center, I always wait for the monthly appointment to visit them, they give me moral support before financial, I feel so good with them, I loved their honesty their way of dealing with people”.

The centre’s operators are also fond of Tamam:

“She is full of vitality despite her suffering. We have a beautiful relationship with her and her family. When we meet we manage to forget the difficulties for a while and our conversations are fun and full of laughter.”
