Fourteen Pots of Beans

A pinch of imagination and a lot of joy in being together are the basic ingredients to create an event of concrete support for AMU projects. This is what happened in Spain, where a group of supporters organized a bean festival to raise funds.

It is not as important as collecting, it is rather important to have the desire to do so, to commit to creating an event, to gather, to act together with other people who have the same goal: to donate . And there are many supporters of AMU who periodically and tirelessly travel this path. There are many donations arriving.

Whether it is an emergency or a project that has already been started, the goal remains the same: to support those who find themselves in a vulnerable condition.

AMU supporters in Spain and the joy of givingImagination is certainly not lacking. One of the most successful initiatives has been organized for nine years in Spain, and it is the “Solidarity Bean Soup” also called “Fagiolata”.

Last February, ninety people attended this event which took place in the premises of the Basilica of Begoña, in the city of Bilbao. People of all ages, members of the Focolare Movement, some were there for the first time, others had already participated in previous years.

The joy of being together, the fourteen pots of beans provided for the guests and a few games of bingo helped raise a small sum for the Water project, source of life and development in Ruyigi (Burundi) .

This is just one example of what can be done. A concert, an exhibition, a book presentation, a dinner: any event can be transformed into a moment of solidarity to raise awareness of AMU’s commitment and to concretely support its projects. How to do? Write to sostenitori@amu-it.eu
