Every child has the right to learn

Mamdouh is one of the children who attend the EHIS center in Aleppo, the educational facility for children with hearing problems that we have supported with Semi di Speranza for years. In addition to hearing problems, he has motor and behavioral difficulties. He is an intelligent child but also – at times – aggressive, capable of acting without realizing the consequences of his actions, or who can spend hours playing alone. The EHIS center has been taking care of him for more than three years. Educators follow him in his difficult developmental path: teachers and parents work together under the supervision of a psychologist. There are many forces in place that are necessary for children with Mamdouh’s difficulties to make progress . Sometimes it can be tempting to give up, but at EHIS there is an imperative to never give up: “Every child has the right to learn, they have the right to love and respect and it is our duty to give each one the time they need to learn. We give Mamdouh all the care and attention he needs, without ever giving up.” In his fourth year at the facility, Mamdouh has overcome many behavioral problems and has reached a level that allows him to continue his education. Now, it can only go on.
