The after-school activities of the Syria Emergency Program are starting again, after the restrictions imposed to contain the Covid19 infections. While waiting for the after-school center in Damascus to reopen, chemistry and physics lessons continue, in small groups, for the kids who have to take the high school exam. After-school activities are essential for kids who are preparing for the final exams , in fact the schools that have remained standing after almost ten years of war are overcrowded and even studying at home, in common areas and shared with the whole family, displaced and often experiencing the hardships of lack of work, is difficult. After-school programs include study support programs in adequate spaces to give students the opportunity to pass their exams. Offering a dignified education and school preparation is the key to keeping children and adolescents away from exploitation, giving them the opportunity to build a different future for themselves and for their country. The excitement of the exam and the concentration on studying do not hinder the opportunities for sharing and celebration , which have become too rare due to the prevention measures adopted for the Coronavirus. So the Damascus after-school kids found a way to celebrate their friend Mary. A moment of relaxation before starting to study again!
