Also this year the group of supporters of AMU in Trento managed to carry out the operation “Apple juices in Vald di Non” to support projects in Syria.
It all started from sharing, with the parish group, the experience of a family that lived in Syria for years. The direct testimony of the dramatic situation due to the war, the embargo, poverty, refugees and the suffering of those who remained in their homeland put in the hearts of the whole group the desire to do something concrete. Thus many solidarity initiatives were born: dinners, collections of used clothes, theatrical performances and even the famous apple juice! All these opportunities to commit themselves to others have gradually involved other families, local communities, the community of New Families, friends and colleagues. This year, for the fourth consecutive year, thanks to the support of the Melinda consortium, which deals with growing and harvesting apples in the Val di Non and which donated 18 quintals of apples , the supporters and friends of the AMU met to work together, from 8:30 to 22:30, managing to produce 10 hectoliters of apple juice that will be distributed in the coming weeks to collect donations to support the Syrian Emergency Program “Seeds of Hope”. Luca, one of the organizers of the initiative, writes to us: ” All the people we have approached and sensitized in these years have always been struck by the seriousness of AMU projects and by the direct connection with the communities and people supported. The videos received from Syria or the video conferences made during some solidarity dinner with Robert (responsible for AMU projects in Syria) have always been a very important part of all the activities because they were the direct testimony of what was being done. Always a drop in the ocean, but as Robert always reminds us, <<without that drop the ocean wouldn’t be the same>>.
