The Pandemic, the measures implemented to limit the spread of the virus and its consequences, have caused the halt of economic and commercial activities throughout the world. In the most vulnerable communities or those that were beginning a path of rebirth and development, this situation could have nullified all the efforts made.
In the Northwest of Argentina, the communities of the Sustainable Tourism Program did not lose heart and having had to interrupt their tourist reception activities, thanks to the help of the program team they sought and implemented new ways of producing and selling their products. 2021 promises to be a year of new beginnings in which, by joining ideas and forces, producers are ready to fuel the innovative projects they have started and to commit to others.
Increased production and a new market
In Tartagal, for example, a home sales and delivery system for agricultural products was immediately activated, which not only allowed production not to be stopped, but also allowed the reference market to be expanded. 2021, with greater flexibility in circulation, will also be the year in which the new market of Yariguarenda and Peña Morada will be consolidated. The TSNOA program supported these initiatives through the supply of materials and work tools suitable for expanding production for agriculture.
A new chicken farm run by women in Espinal
Thanks to the support of the TSNOA program team, the Espinal women’s association has been able to secure funding to renovate the chicken coops of 20 families, so they can start producing eggs and poultry. The project also includes growing fruit trees for sweets, preserves and liqueurs.
