In order to contain the Coronavirus, Syria has also implemented lockdown and social distancing measures in recent months. After almost ten years of war and international sanctions, which have reduced the population to poverty, due to destruction, high unemployment and growing inflation, these measures have worsened the emergency. For this reason, while respecting the containment imposed to prevent Covid19, we have continued the work of assisting families, which has become essential for women and men who have also lost those few casual jobs that allowed them to have some resources. In recent months in Damascus, Syria, we have constantly accompanied 43 families in need, providing them with financial support for food expenses and rent. During this period , the support of our operators and volunteers who met families in open spaces, leaving aid in front of the entrances of their homes, was fundamental . Despite the restrictions and necessary precautions, we have discovered how the relationship that is usually established between operators and families has not deteriorated.
Thanks to your support we are facing this emergency while waiting to restart, as soon as possible, the path of recovery and development.
