The Argentine Northwest comprises distinct geographical regions, from the highest mountains in America to large valleys, to canyons. Local rural communities live in evocative and uncontaminated areas, preserving their traditional social structure, customs, and activities. Locals live in a subsistence economy, which often forces the youth to move abroad in search of employment.
Sustainable, ethical, and responsible tourism offers an opportunity for human and social development and for creating employment opportunities. Local indigenous communities and farmers have a chance for growth through sustainable hospitality, handicraft, agriculture, and livestock farming.
