“At the beginning I was supposed to be just a coordinator, then I became the project director.” Youstina tells us from Egypt, the country that is the protagonist of the project I, Ambassador of Peace . This step involved some difficulties: “There were so many things I didn’t know and that weren’t clear to me. I went through difficult times. I was afraid that things wouldn’t go as they were supposed to. I couldn’t sleep at night. I asked myself what I should do. The answer was simple: ask for help .”
From here a work team was born that took care of the project and worked to promote and spread a culture of Peace in Egypt: “We supported and encouraged each other. We organized many initiatives involving children, parents and teachers. And everything went well, because we lived these moments in joy and peace”.
It was a learning experience not only for the children, parents and teachers, but also for Youstina herself: “I learned that I need to have more confidence in myself. The human relationships established thanks to I, Ambassador of Peace are more important than the project numbers or the documents to fill out. I am grateful to have lived this experience .
There is one thing, in particular, that Youstina would like to remain at the end of the project: “I would like each of us to decide how to live these values in life and also at work” . If talking about peace to children, teachers and parents has served to sow dialogue, understanding, solidarity, respect for differences, support for the most vulnerable in the complex Egyptian society, this has also been possible thanks to people like Youstina.
