When education is good for everyone

Educating the most vulnerable communities and those who need more attention is a challenge. But it is a path that is also good for the operators.

“For me it is a second home”, thus ends the video of the operators of the EHIS school for hearing-impaired children in Aleppo. Simple words, short sentences, to send a message about the value of their work within the school supported by the Seeds of Hope program in Syria. Working every day in close contact with girls and boys who cannot hear or speak and discovering their strength and determination, also helps the operators. In the most difficult moments they can look at these young people and count on their own strength. Despite their language difficulties, in fact, the students of the EHIS school in Aleppo manage to find a way to communicate, follow lessons in parallel with the state educational programs and obtain excellent results. This is how education becomes reciprocity: what the children receive they give to teachers and operators with affection and pride. This is how education becomes training for life and allows even those who are most vulnerable or apparently disadvantaged to be the protagonists of their own life and their own future. AMU’s education and training projects involve young people in the Middle East, Latin America, Europe also thanks to the Living Peace International network.
