The volunteers of Trentino Alto-Adige: a thread that does not break

Eighty women, aged 35 to 90, have been supporting AMU with continuous donations for over a decade. One of them, Annalisa, has also involved the company she works for

Among the many groups that support AMU , the support of the volunteers of the Focolare Movement, in Italy and in Europe, has never been lacking. Since the war in Syria began, twelve years ago, a group of volunteers from Trentino Alto Adige has decided to do their part.

“As volunteers from Trentino Alto-Adige – Marisa writes to us – we asked ourselves how we could support these people. We thought of sending financial aid through AMU because it is the association that, inspired by the Focolare Movement, has in its actions the objective of universal brotherhood. Gradually, contributions were added for Lebanon, Jordan, Ukraine, up to today for the emergency in the Middle East.

In these years, the volunteers of Trentino Alto-Adige have reaped every month the fruit of the desire to live their lives in constant tension with their brothers and sisters who, near or far, are experiencing economic and social difficulties.

“We are about eighty, from 35 to 92 years old continues Marisa – the contribution that arrives monthly is the result of the imagination of the youngest, who collectvolunteers from Trentino funds through activities such as charity dinners, and elderly volunteers, happy to donate their savings . For the younger ones, seeing the older ones who sometimes give more than they can is an important lesson”.

A volunteer from Trentino, Annalisa, put AMU in contact with the company she works for: Allitude , a company specializing in IT outsourcing and back-office services for the banking sector, part of the Cassa Centrale Cooperative Banking Group.

In 2020, Allitude chose to join the Christmas Charity project promoted by the parent company Cassa Centrale Banca, to donate the amount traditionally allocated to Christmas gifts for its employees to organizations and associations that operate in the field of assistance and volunteering. Each year, individual employees identify and propose the associations to support: “It is a choice that has proven to be a winning one – the company states – and in 2022, together with all the companies in the Group, we supported 156 projects of associations active in numerous Italian regions and in various countries around the world, donating a total contribution of 367,500 euros”.

Among these, AMU was selected for its project of educational, training and psychological support to Syrian children, with the hope of giving its own small but concrete contribution to the construction of a future of peace and sustainability.
