2020 was undoubtedly a special year that each of us will remember indelibly for many personal and family events. The AMU Social Balance Sheet was created with the aim of describing in an articulated way our association, our commitment and the use of the funds received to accompany the most vulnerable communities to unleash their development potential.
The drafting process involved all internal sectors of our Association and was an opportunity for a deep reflection on our work, on the objectives and results achieved thanks to the support and joint work with donors, institutions, local operators and beneficiaries. In 2020 we felt driven to an increasingly intense commitment to face the challenges that each of us had before us, in our own family and in the various tasks within the Association. We experimented with new ways to maintain contact with our supporters, we encouraged each other and although reluctantly giving up public events that had become consolidated appointments, we replaced them with smaller and more widespread ones, reaching new people with teleconferences and participating in events and presentations organized by others, with a fruitful and mutually enriching exchange. We hope that reading the pages of the Social Report will reveal the vitality and commitment with which we have tried to carry out our work in the past year. We had, and still have, in our hearts the strong desire to transform the tragedy that humanity is experiencing into a new and formidable opportunity to decisively advance towards the realization of the United World, the dream that inspired Chiara Lubich, whose birth centenary was commemorated in 2020. That dream that we want to help realize by engaging in the field of relations between peoples and nations of the earth.
