Riyad worked as a hairdresser in a women’s salon in Aleppo (Syria), but during the war the business was closed. At 47 he had to start over again. He had always been involved in haircuts and shampoos, so he reinvented a profession from here and started a small production of body and hair cleansers. But Riyad is not one of those people who stop. The idea was good and needed to be implemented. The first tool used, and the one most at hand, was the Internet: the man looked for information to improve his skills. At this point, however, he also needed support and the RestarT program came to his aid by purchasing raw materials to produce new detergents.
When the production machinery is in operation – and this happens often – Riyad’s eyes shine. With happiness and satisfaction. In the space of six months he has produced three new types of soap from this machinery, becoming a point of reference for local trade. Since Riyad has the great ability to broaden his horizons , he has also made an agreement with two partners to distribute his products continuously. All these initiatives have been rewarded by the profits. In fact, the man is now able to support his household expenses. The most beautiful aspect of this story is another: the 25 kilos of detergent that Riyad has donated to a monastery of Carmelite nuns in Aleppo.
The hairdresser of Aleppo
Riyad's story seems like a fairy tale: the man, 47 years old, had always been a hairdresser. Left without a job, he invented a new business... without straying too far from shampoos and conditioners.
