The 2019 typhoon caused extensive damage to the facilities of Fazenda da Esperança, on the island of Masbate in the Philippines, threatening to jeopardize the presence of young guests following the rehabilitation and social inclusion program. AMU and the Emergency Coordination of the Focolare Movement intervened to support the repair work, which also involved the guests themselves and which can now guarantee healthy and safe environments. In the many testimonies that reached us at the end of the work, alongside gratitude, there emerges fear for the danger escaped and the strength of hope for the future.
Thanks to those who helped us fix our house. We are now safe, no more floods and leaks from the roofs. The rain no longer enters our house or the chapel. Now we are all well also thanks to those who help the mission. This will help the new girls to live well within their program. – Joan
Thank you for sending us the help for the house renovation. We experienced the typhoon last December 2019 it was not easy. We could not sleep, the windows were broken and the roofs were blown away by the wind. Now our sufferings are healed, we no longer sleep on the living room floor, the roof has been fixed and the house is beautiful now. We will be able to welcome the new kids who will come to rehabilitate here. – Kervin
We are very grateful for the donation we received for our shelter. The shelter helps us live well while we are here changing our lives. Before, when the rain came, we used the bucket for the leaks from the roof. But now we can sleep better. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. – George
After the typhoon we started to worry about our safety, every time it rained water came in through the roofs and broken ceilings. Especially in the chapel, where we go every day. Now that everything is fixed we feel safer, also for our children. Thank you for finding in your hearts the way to help us rebuild our home. May God bless you always. – Kathleen
I was very worried about the houses because of what we experienced, I was afraid that the roof would blow off again with the wind. Now it is more beautiful and stronger, I am not worried anymore. Thank you for helping the mission. There will be many kids who will benefit from living in this house and change their lives. – Marc Louis
