Tariq managed to reproduce a famous game and distribute it for free to his friends who couldn’t afford it.

It all started with Tareq’s desire to have a “bulbul” , a game known among his peers, but which many cannot afford . By following tutorials online he learned to build it with recycled materials easily found at home. In this way Tariq was able to build it for his friends too, distributing it for free or selling it at half price . Tariq and his family lived in Bab al-Sebaa in a small rented apartment, where he could attend the “Generation of Hope” after-school program. Now they have returned to their neighborhood of Khalidiya in Old Homs. They are the only ones inside the building, because some parts of the building and the neighborhood in general were destroyed due to the war. Here many children had to abandon school years ago, for this reason Tariq has understood even more the great opportunity he had in being able to continue his education by attending the after-school program in Homs . The experiences and what he has learned, whether it concerns school subjects or being with others, now constitute an important baggage for Tariq, so much so that if you ask him what school he attended before returning to the neighborhood, he only mentions the after-school program “Generation of Hope” even though he regularly attended day school. The values of generosity, attention to others and the desire to be protagonists of a different future that can be felt in the after-school program of Homs “Generation of Hope” are points of reference for the kids who then relive them by putting them into practice in the most original ways.
