Robert Chelhod in Italy to talk about Syria

AMU announces the launch of a tour of events dedicated to Syria, with the aim of raising funds and awareness about the situation the country continues to face

After more than a decade of war and a devastating earthquake in 2023, Syria continues to experience one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises . Over 90% of the population survives below the poverty line , with a collapsing economy, widespread unemployment, and severely compromised health and education services. Political instability and social fragmentation further exacerbate living conditions, forcing millions to depend on humanitarian aid.

Robert - SyriaChildren are among the hardest hit : deprived of childhood and fundamental rights, often forced into early labor and deprived of access to education, healthcare, and a safe environment. Job loss and a lack of opportunities have driven many Syrians to leave the country. However, many want to stay, rebuild, and contribute to Syria’s future through work and a decent income.

AMU announces the launch of a series of events dedicated to Syria , with the aim of raising funds and raising awareness about the situation the country continues to face. Robert Chelhod, President of the Seeds of Hope Council , which manages all projects supported by AMU and the Focolare Movement’s Emergency Coordination Unit, will be present at the meetings . Robert will provide a direct update on the progress of ongoing initiatives and the current situation.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the results achieved and future prospects, as well as make a concrete contribution through the fundraising campaign to support healthcare, after-school programs, and active citizenship projects in various Syrian cities. The tour represents an opportunity for dialogue and learning, as well as a moment of concrete solidarity, to continue building paths of hope and development.
