After months of floods that left Pakistan devastated and dead, millions of Pakistanis found themselves in dire need of humanitarian aid . The Emergency Coordination of the Focolare Movement, with AMU and AFN, immediately took action by launching a fundraiser for the victims of the floods. Below is the latest update on the actions to address the emergency.
The medical field
The Emergency Coordination of the Focolare Movement with AMU and AFN have organized a medical camp in the area of Tehsil Qubo Saeed Khan Kachi Puli, in the district of Qamber Shahdadkot. This is a distant area and forgotten by the many organizations that are working in Sindh. Here the floods have violently hit the territory and its inhabitants: the population has lost everything, including their homes. The first necessity was to cure the sick : skin, gastric and malarial diseases are the most widespread. The local referents, a group of twelve people, accompanied by some guides, have distributed medicines, blankets and other essential items for free in more than three villages. The people rescued are mostly women and children. Many are seriously ill newborns. More than 500 patients have received medicines from the medical camp team. In particular, in one of these villages everything was swept away by the water. The only thing left were two beds to sleep in . The attention and listening that the referents paid to the local population also brought some relief. The villagers talked about the difficulties, not only practical, that they are experiencing.
