The AMU supports the European citizens’ initiative to: – ensure that intellectual property rights, including patents, do not hinder the accessibility or availability of any future vaccine or treatment against COVID-19; – ensure that EU legislation on data exclusivity and market do not limit the immediate effectiveness of compulsory licences issued by Member States; – introduce legal obligations for beneficiaries of EU funding to share knowledge on health technologies, intellectual property and/or data related to COVID-19 in a technology or patent pool; – introduce legal obligations for beneficiaries of EU funding to ensure transparency of public funding and production costs and transparency and accessibility clauses together with non-exclusive licences
