Among the many stories of RestarT in Syria, Makhoul ‘s story deserves to be told because it is an example of how – thanks to the support of our project – concrete development can be generated.
Originally from Kfarbo, Makhoul has transformed a business idea into a reality capable of supporting his family and offering valuable services to the local community.
A new beginning in Kfarbo
This young Syrian man saw an opportunity for economic and professional growth in the idea of investing in a laboratory of
pastry shop, inside a park he manages. Convinced that his intuition was right and worthy of becoming a reality, he joined the RestarT project in Syria, thanks to contacts with local representatives. His was certainly an ambitious challenge , but it was concrete and doable.
The RestarT office didn’t just provide advice on starting the business, but also provided Makhoul with some essential tools: an oven, a mixer, and a refrigerator.
To ensure energy autonomy in a complex context such as Syria, where electricity is distributed only a few hours a day, a modern solar panel system was also installed.
The economic and social impact
The results were not long in coming.
Located at the entrance to the town, the pastry shop is now a landmark, attracting customers from all over the area. ” Thank God, business has grown significantly and profits have increased,” says Makhoul, noting how productivity has skyrocketed compared to the past.
However, the added value of the RestarT project in Syria lies in its ability to spark virtuous circles of reciprocity. In gratitude for the support received, Makhoul has decided to give back to the community by offering support to people with disabilities.
Thinking about the future
With a clear vision and confidence strengthened by results, Makhoul now aims to make his pastry shop the number one in the area . His ambition for the future is to move forward, improve, and not give up, demonstrating that, with the right support, economic reconstruction is possible even in the most vulnerable areas of Syria.
“I say this with absolute and profound confidence: next year I will further expand the business. This project,” concludes Makhoul, ” has been of great help to me and I sincerely thank everyone at the RestarT project.”
