Egypt, I am an ambassador of peace

A new project has begun in Egypt, inspired by the work of Living Peace International, dedicated to building and spreading a culture of peace that will involve young people, intellectuals, and communication professionals.

Social peace was already part of the heritage of the principles and values of ancient Egypt , an age in which the population could live in a climate of religious pluralism and respect for differences, with particular attention to the most vulnerable people. In recent years, however, Egyptian society has also experienced profound changes that have seen this spirit of solidarity deteriorate in favor of an increasingly widespread climate of violence. Examples of this include domestic violence, which affects women and children in particular, increasingly widespread bullying in schools, and, in general, a worsening of attitudes in everyday life. Terrorist events are only the most extreme manifestations of this climate. The project “I, Ambassador of Peace” was born from the experience, born in Egypt ten years ago, of Living Peace International and aims to contribute to the promotion and construction of a widespread culture of peace, rediscovering respectful and collaborative dialogue between participants and overcoming the different forms of indifference and social hatred. Through training courses, moments of sharing and involvement in schools, with forums and cultural spaces open to young people and artists that can express and tell the values linked to respect for others, with the design of a digital app, a Peace Prize and a Peace Festival, they want to reach beyond 2000 girls and adolescents from communities in Cairo and 735 community leaders, artists, intellectuals, teachers, volunteers and families.
