Tall and full of leaves, mangroves are very important trees in the fight against climate change: they absorb a large amount of carbon dioxide, fight soil erosion and are the perfect habitat for many animal species. The kids from the province of Esmeraldas , protagonists of the Sunrise + project, immediately showed a great deal of interest in issues related to the environment and sustainability, which will be the inspiration for some of the projects they will carry out with the 6×1 methodology of the Ragazzi per l’Unità. So last July 26 they participated with great enthusiasm in the “Third meeting of ecological clubs”. A day full of activities, including some conferences and a historical review of the Mangrove. The kids actively participated by presenting small shows and traditional dances. Participating in these sharing meetings is one of the ways that the youngest have at their disposal to better understand the biodiversity of their territories and raise awareness in the entire community of greater respect and attention for environmental issues.
Ecuador, young people for environmental protection
There are many initiatives that the young protagonists of Sunrise + dedicate to the defense and promotion of the environment and local resources for the ecological, social and economic sustainability of their communities.
