The Covid19 pandemic and the related measures to prevent the spread of the virus have slowed down and transformed some of our interventions. In this period, some activities are resuming along with their development paths. In Ecuador (alongside the “Esperanza” project for assistance to the families most affected by the crisis linked to Covid19), work related to the Sunrise project for the psychosocial and economic reconstruction of the communities affected by the 2016 earthquake has resumed . The inhabitants of “Salima”, “10 Agosto” and “Macará”, together with the local operators Obra de María-Ecuador, AMU, Fepp Esmeraldas and Fepp Construcciones, have been able to resume work to complete the community spaces of the bakery and the two multipurpose centers. The bakery , which will now be owned by the community and no longer in a rented space, will have an even more shared management, allowing greater earnings to be redistributed to the workers. Community centers will strengthen ties between local residents , involving them even more in family-friendly activities for adults and children.
Ecuador – Beyond the pandemic, work on the “Sunrise” project resumes
Now it's time to look forward. Work has resumed to finish the bakery.
