Covid19 – Support for families in Bolivia

The Covid19 pandemic has hit Bolivia hard, the health emergency has been associated, right from the start, with the social and economic emergency for those who have lost their means of support. The Fundación UniSol manages the “Rincón de Luz” centers in Cochamba and “Clara Luz” in Santa Cruz where it welcomes children from the most disadvantaged neighborhoods of the two cities, offering them support in learning activities, nutritional support programs, play spaces and peace education activities. The centers also offer mothers of children opportunities to learn artisanal skills, as well as informal microcredit to start and support small income-generating businesses. In recent months, the UniSol Foundation has been assisting families who attended the centers by providing them with food and basic necessities (medicines, rice, sugar, eggs, pasta, oil, vegetables and dairy products), ensuring, where possible, scholastic support for children and, in some cases, even microcredits. Furthermore, one of the activities that the foundation is carrying out concerns the creation of urban gardens in homes to meet the nutritional needs of families and, in some cases, to start a small marketing of the products grown. The impossibility of organizing local fundraising events has led to a significant reduction in revenue for the foundation, which therefore does not have the resources to continue these extraordinary assistance activities for families in the last four months of 2020. The extraordinary contribution from AMU will allow UniSol to pay the salaries of the minimum staff necessary (4 people) to continue the assistance activities for families in the last 4 months of the year. Total cost: €6,181.58 Protagonists: approximately 850 people, i.e. the families of approximately 200 children who attend the two social centers
