Covid 19 – In Mexico, support for those who have undertaken the detoxification process

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] While waiting for the ” LiberarSé – Refuge of Hope ” project to resume, the team supports shelters for those undergoing drug and alcohol detoxification . For more than 5 years, the “Refugio de la Esperanza”, an initiative of the Movimento Givoanile Urbano AC and Promoción Integral de la Persona AC, has worked closely with shelters for drug addicts in the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl . In these homes, young people with substance abuse problems are accompanied during a period of isolation that lasts from 3 to 6 months and is the first phase of a detoxification process that young people can access. The “LiberarSé” project is part of this process, to accompany those who leave isolation towards a gradual social and work reintegration . While waiting for the project to restart, immediately after the lock down, the team began to support the shelters that operate thanks to donations from the families of the guests (when they are present and have the possibility) or by raising funds from local supporters. Due to Covid19, the project has suffered a decrease in the usual donations and has led the centers to organize fundraisers also at the Diocese of Nezahualcóyotl, small traders and the community. For this reason, the AMU with the local team has activated an aid plan and an assistance path for the purchase and distribution of food, precisely in the most critical phase. In this period of great difficulty throughout the world, we remain alongside the communities experiencing the greatest difficulties.
