Profor is a training intervention project for the incubation of productive activities in Brazil.
The Beiru-Tancredo Neves neighborhood of Salvador de Bahia, predominantly inhabited by Afro-descendants, is marked by racism and institutional violence, with abuses by law enforcement and little investment in key sectors such as health, education and public services. The main consequence of this discrimination is the lack of study opportunities and access to essential services, which hinder access to decent work and fuel multidimensional poverty. This context favors phenomena such as drug trafficking, early pregnancies and addiction among young people. Drug trafficking often becomes a way of recognition and earning money. Violence, unemployment and low educational indicators create a vicious circle that limits the community’s potential. For this reason, projects that favor the development of individual capacities are crucial for social progress and community strengthening.
The aim of the project is to offer qualification paths in the entrepreneurial field to promote the creation of decent work and strengthen social leadership processes among people in vulnerable conditions, for the benefit of the entire community.
In parallel, the project aims to promote the creation of opportunities for human development, acting to strengthen the Afro-descendant identity. This approach aims to reduce the effects of devaluation and raise awareness among the population about the importance and value of cultural diversity.
Activity description
The main activities of the project include training interventions and accompanying actions for the incubation of productive activities. In a transversal way, the project also aims to strengthen the Afro-descendant identity, working on personal and socio-emotional skills, integrating tools such as community therapy.ProforPro
