The project “It can be done!” of microcredit and microfinance in Burundi, began its journey with the training of animators who will accompany people from local communities in the realization of their projects and in the start of income-generating activities.
This training aims to provide animators with the skills needed to better monitor and support community microcredit groups. During the training, the ability to create, monitor and support microprojects undertaken by community members will be strengthened, so that these, once they have become solid activities, can improve the living conditions of the communities in which they operate. But who are the animators and what do they do in the project? They are called ” community animators ” because they are local people whose activity will take place most of the time in the villages, alongside those who are implementing their projects. Their task is to support people in the feasibility study of income-generating activities, identify any difficulties by helping people to address them and, in the event of failure, study the causes together with the community, foreseeing solutions for more effective, solid and profitable management. Community animators will accompany microcredit groups in seven provinces of the country.
