Fazenda da Esperança in the Philippines welcomes around 23 young people, boys and girls from families experiencing serious economic and social difficulties. On the farms, the young people take care of agriculture, baked goods, crafts and animals. What they earn from the sale of the products is used to cover survival costs and basic needs, which is why there are no other funds for emergency situations. When in December 2019 the country was hit by a devastating typhoon and a period of prolonged rain and wind. This compromised the reception facilities for the young people, causing continuous infiltrations and actual flooding. AMU’s commitment will be to support the repair of roofs and ceilings and to proceed with the insulation of the rooms. Also in the Philippines, AMU intends to accompany the path of young people in difficulty, aggravated by the environmental emergency, so that they can discover and unleash their potential to build their future.
