Father and son work in the same workshop in Aleppo. It’s their own business, which they run together. George, the boy, is an auto electrician who, since 2020, has been stepping into his shop every day and diving into the world of motors.
The automotive sector is his passion, which is perhaps why he felt the need to take a step forward, to grow professionally, something that is not at all easy in his city – Aleppo – and in a country – Syria – with extremely dire economic conditions.
Yet George didn’t give up: when he discovered the existence of the RestarT program, he decided to apply to join and thus have the opportunity to expand his workshop.
With RestarT this Aleppo workshop has grown
First, he requested a supply of some parts he needed but didn’t have, and his request was approved. Once he received the support, George took the parts to the shop and created a dedicated accounting spreadsheet so he could accurately track his monthly profits, parts sold, and the net price of each item.
He didn’t stop there: he furthered his skills in automotive electronics by completing a year-long training course , including computer tests. He then began selling spare parts, tracking his earnings and reinvesting them in new components to further grow his business without losing value.
Reciprocity is… making a child happy
But George isn’t just thinking about work. Last year, he wanted to make a gesture of sharing, of reciprocity: he donated clothes to a child who couldn’t afford them, so that he too could be happy.
