The bigger the goal, the bigger everyone’s commitment and participation will have to be. And if we want to save the planet, everyone will have to start by observing, understanding and intervening in the situations that are closest to them. From these assumptions come the ideas that the kids who participated in the AMU’s path for transversal skills and orientation (formerly school-work alternation), imagined and in some cases put into practice, also telling it with short videos. Let’s not back down, there’s no more time! This is what the kids who have dealt with the poor maintenance of urban public parks think, and in particular, the Villa Lazzaroni park, located near their high school. The park could be a meeting point for families and kids in the neighborhood, but the critical environmental conditions it is in today make it not very functional, which is why the kids want to intervene as soon as possible.
Let’s reopen the Maestoso! From the planet to their neighborhood: the first group tried to imagine the reopening of the Maestoso cinema, in the Appio neighborhood. Very famous throughout the city, the Maestoso has been closed for years and the kids would like to see it become active again as a meeting point and cultural hub for the neighborhood. With attention to more sustainable solutions.
The planet is for everyone! Respect and care for animals, starting from the fight against abandonment. For this reason, some kids have thought of a path that would involve their school and the National Agency for Animal Defense, to increase the awareness of each of us. Protecting and being aware is not enough, for this reason the kids also wanted to show how to behave concretely in some cases, such as that of abandoning a dog.
Let’s take care of our history and our environment! Not only for tourists: discovering and knowing our history makes us more aware and protecting our monuments is not only a way to attract more tourists, but also to take care of our part of the planet. The actions born for the care of the Parco degli Acquedotti, a historic Roman monument, by some young people, represent small and large initiatives that each of us should carry out every day.
Beautiful and clean, our planet! Many of the project’s kids wanted to focus their ideas and efforts on addressing a serious problem in the Capital: the dirt left by street waste. Improperly disposed of waste is also that thrown into the sea: tons of different materials that infest the waters every year, damaging not only the environment, but also animals. Exploring these aspects led the kids to also look for solutions to get involved and try to involve others in concrete and long-term actions to improve our world.
