There are ideas and dreams that cannot be realized immediately, but require time to take the necessary steps. The Caminitos de Ternura nursery school in Cuba is a bit of a symbol of this transition. It is the realization of an idea that initially seemed complicated and instead the success came thanks above all to the support of the families and the Economy of Communion network . The goal to achieve was to create an impact of communion that was more significant, but it was first necessary to find qualified personnel and create the right conditions. In fact, the nursery school managed to form a stable team of teachers, capable of accepting a challenge of this kind. And it was possible to achieve the goal. In April , the first day of the school for parents was tested. The success of the initiative and the gratitude of the families was an emotional surprise for everyone. The testimonies collected demonstrate this. Tamara is the mother of Liam Mateo, a 2-year-old child: “I really enjoyed parenting school. It gave us a break from everyday life, which is often full of problems and difficulties. Usually, all our attention is focused on satisfying the basic needs of children, and we forget about their emotions and moods. The day was instead a time for learning and socializing. It would be nice if it happened more frequently.” Alain, father of a two-year-old child, is also enthusiastic: “I propose that the school for parents be held every month. Many of us have skipped work to be able to attend, but it was a time well spent, to learn what our treasures do when they are away from us.” The satisfaction of this first meeting encourages us to continue with further moments of training and sharing. This event has strengthened the certainty of the importance of working with and for families. The nursery teachers say they are sure “that, together, we can build a better future for our children , where physical, emotional and social development can flourish in an environment of love and communion”.
