Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, with 75% of its population under the age of 30. Unemployment is high at 13.3%, and young people often struggle to acquire skills that will help them earn a regular living. Casa Alba was started to help girls in poverty, many of whom had already been sent to serve in the homes of wealthy families. In these situations, host families pay for the girls’ basic education, but not for further training or vocational training. Casa Alba has been a lifeline because it has not only given them a profession, but has also helped them grow humanely and emotionally in their dignity as human beings. Casa Alba Batik and Sewing School is a project with a dual activity: – production of tie-and-dye fabrics to be used in the production of a range of household items (sheets, tablecloths, etc.) and clothes – training of disadvantaged girls in the acquisition of skills in the field of tailoring The income acquired from the sale of these items is used to support the girls. AMU is committed to supporting the personnel costs for the years 2020 and 2021. Total project cost: € 20,904 – The project is realized with the contribution of EDC – Economy of Communion
