Kebba. First Poverty, Then Work. Now Inclusion

In the video below we tell you the stories of the kids followed by the project Fare Sistema Oltre l'Accoglienza, financed by Fondazione con il Sud. They are stories of those who, having started working, managed to leave poverty behind. With work came something else: inclusion.

Kebba has many talents. With a pencil he quickly traces lines on the white until he creates beautiful drawings. Sometimes he also does it on the walls of the center of Vittoria, in Sicily, where he now works. And he is very good at his job as an intercultural mediator . A job he likes: The trust they have given me is a truly great opportunity , and I don’t want to do any harm. The most beautiful thing, when I enter the community, is hearing the voices of the kids. If there is something wrong, if I notice something on someone’s face, I immediately jump in to try to understand”. Kebba comes from Gambia, he left poverty behind to take a new path that could lead him to a different future. With work, in Italy, he is succeeding. Kebba’s story is one of many that are intertwined in the national program Fare Sistema Oltre l’Accoglienza , which since 2016 has promoted the social and work inclusion of vulnerable people, both Italian and foreign, through a network of local actors made up of companies, families, associations and operators involved in inclusion paths. For inclusion to be successful it is It is important that this network continues to grow stronger. Within this national program, a project with the same name was launched – Fare Sistema Oltre l’Accoglienza – financed by Fondazione con il Sud , with the aim of promoting work inclusion paths for young migrants in three regions: Puglia, Calabria and Sicily.
