Ecuador Sunrise +, a commitment to childhood and adolescence

Childhood and adolescence are the most delicate ages for education, for this reason a part of the Sunrise + project is dedicated to their promotion and protection with the creation of dedicated spaces and training courses for adults.

A space to grow with joy, for the little ones

What are values? What is the value of love? What are my values? These are some of the questions of the training space dedicated to childhood and adolescence of the community of Macará and 10 de Agosto that was recently inaugurated with the support of AMU and AFN. Since March 2022, these meetings have begun with the participation of children aged 5 to 11 and another group of 12 to 16 years old, in a welcoming environment, designed for the young guests, from the decorations to the welcome phrases and the music. With great anticipation and emotion, the facilitators welcomed 110 boys and girls and about 40 teenagers . Interspersing outdoor games, dances and songs, with training moments addressed in a dynamic and fun way, adapting each activity to the age of the participants. This project has been welcomed with gratitude and enthusiasm by the parents of the community because it is an opportunity for their children to grow, far from the dangers of drug addiction and the world of criminal groups.

Adequate training for the older ones

Looking at childhood and adolescence, in the communities of Macará and 10 de Agosto, a training course on the protection of minors was also carried out, thanks to the support of AFN and AMU. This allowed young people and adults to develop and deepen their knowledge of the issues related to the protection of the youngest and to learn about a teaching of communion that puts the person and relationships at the center, so as to be ready for the training and guidance of children from 5 to 11 years old and from 12 to 16 years old. For many: “ This training has been instrumental in making many people aware of what happens when it comes to abuse. We need to help children and adolescents communicate when there is danger or when they have been abused, so that they do not have to spend a lifetime in fear and suffering. ”. Another participant told us that: “ I learned that it is important to teach them from an early age to communicate and to have the necessary confidence to talk about any situation that puts them in danger ”. And finally: “ It was an opportunity to share and strengthen the fraternal bonds between different people who closely accompany children and adolescents, both in after-school and in the 6×1 projects, six steps and a project proposed by “Ragazzi per l’unità ”.
