Since becoming an ambassador for peace, Fibi Nabil has started putting into practice the values promoted by AMU’s project in her daily life: solidarity, respect for differences, dialogue with others. A great change in people’s lives and in Egyptian society itself.
Fibi Nabil is an Egyptian woman who has joined I, Ambassador of Peace, the project through which AMU is committed to building a widespread culture of peace in Egypt which in recent years has suffered a deterioration in the fundamental values a society needs to live under the banner of peace, such as solidarity, respect for differences, dialogue with others.
She became involved in the project almost by chance. She had heard about it but had never had the opportunity to get in touch with the other ambassadors: “Along with some other people, I had been asked to participate in the Day of Sport. I had an idea of what ambassadors were and I had always wanted to be one myself, so when the opportunity arose, I was happy to join the project”. Fibi Nabil immediately got involved in the project’s various activities: “We organised lots of sports events where bridges were built and friendships formed between different people. We all talked, played and laughed together. With ease and with happiness”.
Now that Fibi is an ambassador for peace, her relationships with others and her view of the world around her has changed: “Through daily interaction with new people in the I, Ambassador of Peace project, I have acquired new values and new interests”. These are values that Fibi has also started to apply in her daily life and work, so that Egyptian society can once again be based on those principles that have historically characterised it: religious pluralism, respect for women, support for the most vulnerable.
