Centro Italia: torna la paura e la solidarietà si ravviva

Testimonials “from the front”, those engaged in the RiMPRESA project with us for the people of central Italy hit by the earthquake.

«The new earthquakes did not bring actual damages but have revived in the population that anxiety and fear which were starting to diminish, almost three months since the last big tremors.  And the unforeseen amount of snow made everything more complex, even the simple instinctive act of leaving the houses to get into the open. In short, “the great fear” is back and the most vulnerable are the young and the elderly.

As a community we are in the front line, together and in agreement with many other associations and volunteers, helping the people of the territory of Arquata (about 1,500) who in some way had to move temporarily into housing in the main town or in the accommodation facilities on the coast.

In particular, we try to stay close in various ways (regular visits, animation and entertainment, but above all closeness, listening and proximity…) to a hundred people staying in a hotel in Porto d’Ascoli, which we are taking charge of.Then a solidarity shop called “Passamano” (From hand to hand) has been recently set up, on initiative of Caritas and the Diocesan Movement, at the church of S. Croce (see photo). The shop is opened three afternoons a week, and has been operational since 6^th January, and will be at least until the end of March at the exclusive service of the earthquake victims of Arquata. Around 1,500 articles of clothing have already been distributed to a hundred families. These are new garments that some companies had donated for the earthquake victims of 24^th August. The strong demand, also due to bad weather, is quickly diminishing the stocks, especially boots, coats and anoraks, so we are sending help requests to the industrial and commercial clothing enterprises.

If there are companies willing to donate we can send an official request listing in detail the needs and arrangements.

Like B&F Foundation (one of the RiMPRESA project promoters, editor’s note), we are in relationship with several small producers and farmers of the area, which we aim to support with both direct financial aid (there would be so many stories to tell), by buying their products, and trying to understand the actual needs of each. In this regard, now we can do what at first was impossible: to put together the offers that come from our supporters (from various parts of Italy) with the needs of the people. For example, just yesterday, we were able to find an off road vehicle for a small farmer since his remained under the debris; a company in Lugo, Ravenna willing to donate a used one but in good conditions. The jeep will come soon.

Testimonianze “dal fronte” di chi è impegnato con noi nel progetto RImPRESA per la popolazione del Centro Italia colpita dal terremoto.

«Le nuove scosse di terremoto, più che danni veri e propri, hanno ravvivato nelle persone quell’ansia e quella paura che, a quasi tre mesi dall’ultima grande scossa, si stavano attenuando. E in più in un contesto apocalittico di neve, come non se ne vedeva da anni, che ha reso tutto più complesso, anche l’istintivo scendere nelle piazze. Insomma è tornata “la grande paura” e i più vulnerabili sono i giovani e gli anziani.

Come comunità siamo in prima linea, insieme e in accordo con tante altre realtà associative e di volontariato, nell’aiuto alle persone del territorio di Arquata (circa 1.500) che hanno dovuto in qualche modo traslocare temporaneamente in alloggi nel capoluogo o presso strutture ricettive della riviera.
In particolare, cerchiamo di stare vicino in vari modi (visite periodiche, animazione e intrattenimento, ma soprattutto vicinanza, ascolto e prossimità…) a un centinaio di persone alloggiate in un albergo di Porto d’Ascoli di cui ci siamo presi carico.
È stata poi allestita recentemente, per iniziativa della Caritas e del Movimento Diocesano, una bottega solidale presso la Chiesetta di S. Croce (vedi foto) chiamata “Passamano”. Aperta tre pomeriggi a settimana, la bottega è operativa dal 6 gennaio e almeno fino a tutto marzo sarà a servizio esclusivo dei terremotati di Arquata. Sono già stati distribuiti circa 1.500 articoli di abbigliamento a un centinaio di famiglie. Si tratta di capi nuovi che alcune aziende avevano donato per i terremotati a partire dal 24 agosto scorso. La forte richiesta, dovuta anche alle avverse condizioni atmosferiche, sta esaurendo le scorte, soprattutto di scarponcini, giacconi e giacche a vento, per cui stiamo inviando richieste di aiuto ad aziende di produzione e commerciali.

Se ci sono aziende disponibili a donare possiamo inviare una richiesta ufficiale dove sono riportati in modo dettagliato i bisogni e le modalità (scrivere a pinofeli@alice.it).

Come associazione B&F Foundation (uno dei promotori del progetto RImPRESA, ndr), siamo in rapporto con diversi piccoli produttori e allevatori della zona che cerchiamo di sostenere sia con aiuti economici diretti (ci sarebbero da raccontare tante storie), sia acquistando prodotti, sia cercando di capire le effettive esigenze di ciascuno. A questo proposito è ora possibile fare ciò che all’inizio non si riusciva a fare e cioè mettere insieme le offerte che arrivano dai nostri (da varie parti d’Italia) con i bisogni delle persone. Per esempio proprio ieri, è stato possibile trovare per un piccolo allevatore che ha bisogno di un fuoristrada in quanto il suo è rimasto sotto le macerie, un’azienda di Lugo di Ravenna disponibile a donarne uno usato ma in buono stato. Il fuoristrada arriverà presto.
