SYRIA EMERGENCY PROGRAM – POST WAR RECONSTRUCTION
Description

The Syrian civil war, or Syrian crisis, began on March 15, 2011. From that date followed years of war that have battered the country and have brought serious repercussions on Syrian society, psychologically, economically and socially.

In these years, those who have lost their jobs have been forced to spend all their savings to survive and cure themselves; many had to leave their homes moving to other areas, and therefore suffering all the problems related to overpopulation.

Many displaced families or below the poverty line have been forced to move to poorer areas, far from the city centre, often not reached by humanitarian organizations or associations. As a result they often found themselves isolated and without any help.

One of the most critical aspects is the strong lack of medical and health care due to the migration of doctors abroad, caused by the economic situation in general and by years of imposed embargo, (leading to the lack of raw materials for the production of drugs and relative price increase).

In these years AMU has been present in the most affected territories with different actions of the “EMERGENCY SYRIA” PROGRAM, in social-health assistance projects; family income support projects; Education and training projects for young people and projects for training and job placement.

The total cost of the Program for 2018 is € 293.138,33

AMU’s total contribution, to be obtained through donations, is € 241.586,20
